Medical Disclaimer
Read this before you use anything on this site to change how you eat. It is short, and it is the most important page here.
What this site is
MediterraneanDietMealPlan.com publishes general, educational information about Mediterranean-style cooking: what the pattern looks like, what to buy, and what to make with it. That is all it is.
What this site is not
- It is not medical, nutritional or dietetic advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your circumstances.
- It is not written or reviewed by a registered dietitian, a nutritionist or a physician. Where a page states something about how the Mediterranean pattern is described, it says which organisation published that and links to it, so you can read the source yourself.
- It does not diagnose, treat or manage any condition, and nothing here should be read as a promise about your health, your weight or any medical outcome.
- It is not a weight-loss programme. It sets no calorie targets and recommends no supplement, pill, powder or meal-replacement product — and it never will.
Please talk to a professional first
Speak to your doctor, or to a registered dietitian, before making changes to how you eat — and particularly if any of the following apply to you:
- you have a diagnosed condition of any kind, including heart, kidney, liver, thyroid or digestive conditions;
- you have diabetes or are managing blood sugar;
- you take prescription medication — some medicines interact with specific foods;
- you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding;
- you have a food allergy or intolerance, or a history of disordered eating;
- you are planning to change how a child eats.
If you think you are having a medical emergency, contact your local emergency service. Never delay getting medical advice, or disregard advice you have been given, because of something you read here.
Food safety, allergies and your own kitchen
Recipes and prep suggestions on this site are starting points. Cooking times, storage times and handling are your responsibility in your own kitchen: use your judgement, follow the food-safety guidance that applies where you live, and check every label yourself if you are avoiding an allergen. Ingredient lists and formulations change.
About the sources we cite
We link to organisations that publish nutrition guidance — among them the American Heart Association, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health's Nutrition Source, the Mayo Clinic Diet, Oldways and MedlinePlus. Linking to them does not mean they endorse this site — they do not, and we have no relationship with any of them. Those organisations do not always agree with each other; where they differ we say so rather than picking the tidiest number.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links, and where one appears it is disclosed next to the recommendation. We recommend food and kitchen equipment only. We do not and will not recommend supplements, weight-loss products or anything sold on a health claim. Full detail is on the affiliate disclosure page.
